Schwarzenegger Denies Clemency

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday refused to spare the life of Stanley Tookie Williams, the founder of the murderous Crips gang who awaited execution after midnight in a case that set off a debate over the possibility of redemption on death row.

You know, I don't know a lot about Tookie Williams. I don’t even know a lot about Schwarzenegger. I do think, however, that Arnold's thought's are stupid, to put it simply....''Is Williams' redemption complete and sincere, or is it just a hollow promise?'' Schwarzenegger wrote. ''Without an apology and atonement for these senseless and brutal killings, there can be no redemption.''

I am going to be completely honest with you, because I am really drunk. I have relatives in prison for murder. It has affected my life completely. I can't really go into details, but it has shaped my moral grounding in the biggest way imaginable. My grandfather was killed when I was five (or six) and I don't wish the death penalty upon any killer. There is such a thing as redemption (whatever redemption is) in this life, I believe. Having the death penalty as a deterrent has proven ineffective (there will always be senseless murder until the end of time). So, I am saddened by the victims of the killing and I am saddened by the killing of the killers. I hope and wish for society to learn and progress. I want us to live with a sense that life has meaning no matter whose life it is. We must to progress until we realize death is the end of an entire universe......a universe is ineffable, in my mind.

I’m gettin’ all teary. I have to go to sleep.
I'll wake up tomorrow regretting that I wrote about my my past, I know it. I hope you don't think I'm stupid.
