What surprises and infuriates me is that the editors of the Post and the TImes won't talk about the meetings with the president. The Post and the Times think the story is impotant enough to write about, but the Post's editor and the Times's editor, the only ones who know what happened, won't comment.

The Post story says that the presiden'ts effort to squelch stories has failed; but in fact the Times sat on a story for a year at the White House's request. By keeping their dealings with the White House secret, newspapers are forfeiting any claim to independence. It's shameful.

I agree with you cliff barney. You're absolutely right. It's amazing the control this admin has on the media. It's ridiculous!

What is going on in this country? We are pretty close to fascism right now. Bush thinks he has dictatorial powers. Why do the editors even agree to meet with the White House with silence as a prelude to the meeting? This is the same silence imposed on members of Congress. This business of national security being the rationale for everything must be stopped. Anyone we disagree with is a terrorist. Bush should simply be impeached to demonstrate to all American and the rest of the world that America is a free country. Right now it is a democracy in name only. It is really a fascist state with military and secret agenda being the mode of government. I don't want Bush's form of protection. Al Qaeda has won. They have disrupted our country.
